Free to read and cite

Every timeline, role, and family page on Future History is free to read, share, and cite, with no account and no paywall. If you reference a figure in an article, report, or class, a link back to the page it came from is all we ask.

Reuse at scale

Reading and citing individual pages is free. Bulk export of the dataset, programmatic access, and embedding the timeline in another product are not offered as services today, and we reserve those rights. If you are a career service, a newsroom, or a research group that would want the data at scale one day, we would still like to hear from you, just get in touch.

Sources and attribution

Future History is assembled from public official statistics, each cited on the page where it appears. The underlying sources carry their own terms, which we honor: United States figures come from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Census Bureau (public domain); United Kingdom figures from the Office for National Statistics under the Open Government Licence v3.0; Australian figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0; Canadian figures from Statistics Canada under the Statistics Canada Open Licence. The compilation, the projection cones, and the tool-era research are our own work.

Information, not advice

Future History is a free reference for general information. It is not professional, career, financial, legal, or investment advice, and you should not rely on it as the sole basis for a decision. Career and study choices depend on your own circumstances, so please weigh them with guidance suited to your situation.

Accuracy and projections

We compile figures from public official statistics and cite each one, but we cannot guarantee that every figure is complete, current, or error-free, and sources revise their data over time. Projections shown on the site are scenarios published by named third parties, not promises about the future or forecasts of our own. Actual outcomes will differ, sometimes widely.

No warranty and liability

The site and its data are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Future History and the people behind it are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its data. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under laws that cannot be excluded, including the Australian Consumer Law.
