ASAM CONTINUUM automated the structured documentation layer of the six-dimension ASAM Criteria level-of-care placement assessment, reducing documentation time from 45+ minutes to roughly 15 minutes of clinician review and attestation. The NASW issued its AI and Social Work Practice position statement in 2025, affirming that AI may support efficiency in documentation and screening but cannot substitute for clinical judgment, the therapeutic relationship, or the social worker's statutory authority as a mandated reporter.
